About me
My name is Sébastien Vandenitte. I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Sign Language Centre of the University of Jyväskylä (JYU), Finland, working as a member of the ShowTell project.
Background
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages and Literatures and a Master’s degree in Linguistics from Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Since completing my dissertation at the LSFB-Lab, I hold a PhD degree in Languages, Literatures, and Translation from Université de Namur (UNamur).
Research interests
My research focuses on:
- the comparison of signed and spoken languages, in particular LSFB (Langue des Signes de Belgique Francophone or French Belgian Sign Language) and Belgian French
- semiotic diversity across communities and communication contexts
- depiction and iconicity
- the creation and use of multimodal language corpora
